Sonographers demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy,
physiology, pathology, and medical terminology, showing competence
in production, use, recognition, and analysis of ultrasound images
and patterns used for patient diagnosis. The Sonographer is
responsible for performing the daily sonographic procedures and the
independent operation of ultrasound equipment, and for performing
diagnostic sonographic procedures according to Radiologist. The
Sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all
times and is self-motivated to uphold and improve his/her education
and skills to ensure professional competence.

As a Sonographer at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital
role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive
the best care by:
Ability to appropriately access, manage and accurately update
patient medical records through Hospital Electronic Medical Record
Information Systems.
Maintains patient confidentiality as outlined by privacy and HIPAA
guidelines.
Practices according to the SDMS Code of Ethics for the Profession
of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound
Performs accurate clinical assessment to identify patient signs and
symptoms and adapt procedures as appropriate.
Effectively operates sonographic equipment to identify and record
appropriate anatomical, pathological and diagnostic sonographic
images.
Uses independent judgment during the sonogram to accurately
differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. Initiates the
appropriate methods and level of exploration necessary to document,
clarify and quantify disease processes.
Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information in medical
history and effectively communicates findings to the appropriate
physician.
Practices universal safety precautions to minimize exposure to
patient, self, and staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Satisfactory completion of formal ultrasound training in an AMA
approved school and/or formal on-the-job ultrasound training in
addition to graduating from an AMA approved medical program.
RDMS Physics SPI Registry upon hire or Registry from Equivalent
Society (ARRT, CRGS, etc)
RDMS or Equivalent Society abdominal or OB/GYN specialty within 6
months of hire.
Ability to obtain abdominal or OB/GYN specialty credentialing and
RVT within a reasonable period of time after hire.
BLS required within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in abdominal, OB/GYN, small parts, vascular and
interventional ultrasound.
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels,
assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and
supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers,
patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally
communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information,
alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly
during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and
fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision
and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for
documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication
preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of
movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift,
and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of
varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to
walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining
and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes
pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy
items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of
equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to
stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly
rate dependent upon experience.
$33.90 - $54.58
