Job Description:The MRI technologist is responsible for
compassionate and appropriate patient care while performing MRI
examinations under the direction of a physician to assist in the
medical diagnosis or treatment of injury.Posting Specifics: -

- Shift Details: Varied MRI & X-ray shifts, rotated weekends and
holidays, after hours MRI callScopeAs an Imaging Tech II MRI /
Diagnostic Radiology you need to know how to:
- Position will include work in the MRI department as well as
Diagnostic Radiology
- Access, manage and update patient medical records through
Hospital Electronic Medical Record Information System
- Accurately access patient medical records
- Input physicians orders appropriately to patients records
- Review documentation for ongoing patient care- Communicate
patient record with ancillary hospital services
- Maintain patient confidentiality as outlined by privacy and
HIPAA guidelines
- Practice core competencies according to the ARRT Standards of
Ethics
- Educate, interview, screen and explain imaging and safety
procedures to patients regarding the biological effects of
radiation and/or magnetic field protection and safety prior to
beginning any imaging procedure to reduce anxiety and obtain
patient cooperation
- Position patient on imaging table and utilize immobilization
devices as warranted for safety or to obtain optimum views of
specified areas of the body as requested by a Physician and
following protocols developed by a Radiologist
- Administer contrast media orally or in intravenous
administration according to Radiologist and/or Pharmacy
guidelines
- Monitor patient during procedures either through direct
contact, by the use of two-way voice communication or through
control room window and/or closed circuit TV screen
- Practice universal safety precautions, radiation protection
techniques and magnetic field education to minimize exposure to
patient, self and staffQualifications - Non-Certified
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or diploma from two-year College or
technical school; or six months to one year related experience
and/or training, required
- Current ARRT certification, required
- Current Montana State Licensure, required
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart
Association, required
- MRI experience, required as well as an additional certification
such as CT, required
- Minimum of two (2) years of Diagnostic Radiology experience,
required
- Knowledgeable in MRI and Radiology procedures,
requiredQualifications - Certified
- Associate's degree or diploma from two-year College or
technical school; or 6 months to 1 year of related experience
and/or training, required
- Current ARRT certification, required
- Current Montana State Licensure or eligibility to obtain,
required
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart
Association, required
- Additional certification, required within 18 months of
hirePhysical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and read
information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors,
identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with
patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require
employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand
spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and
accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual
dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate
equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent
computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing
needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to
lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will
also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including
heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with
transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing
supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and
portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to
navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on
the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary
position for an extended period of time.Location:St James
